A. Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this privacy notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the mitx.org and mitxawards.org Web sites.

B. Personally-Identifiable Information

On some pages, you can apply for membership, register for events and subscribe to newsletters. The types of personally identifiable information collected at these pages include:

- Name
- Title
- Company
- Mailing Address
- Email Address
- Telephone number
- Fax number
- Company information (URL, number of employees, business description, etc.)
- Credit/Debit Card Information

Except as stated in this privacy notice, or as otherwise stated at the time personally-identifiable information is gathered, we will not disclose personally-identifiable information to third parties.

The information you provide when applying for membership will be displayed in your company profile on our Web site and is available to anyone on the Internet.

Information you provide when registering for events or purchasing products or services will be used in connection with that event or purchase and will be added to MITX's database for future marketing and data analysis. This data is not released to outside parties, except as is needed for transaction processing and fulfillment.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

MITX may periodically permit third-party materials to be mailed via postal mail to MITX's contact database.

MITX may use personally identifiable information to contact you for informational, marketing and promotional purposes.

You can register with our Web site if you would like to receive our newsletters and event announcements. Information you submit on our Web site will not be used for this purpose unless you fill out the registration form.

We will not use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described in this privacy notice without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

C. Non-Personally-Identifiable Information

MITX may also collect information about you that is not personally-identifiable.  Examples of this type of information may include your company's industry segment and size. 

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our Web site and to share with sponsors and other third parties.  For example, we may tell a sponsor that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our Web site, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

D. Information Collected Automatically

MITX may also automatically collect non-personally-identifiable information about your use of the Web site, such as the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com, if you are connecting from an America Online account), the date and time you access the Web site, and the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our Web site.  This information will not be linked to personally-identifiable information.  MITX may use this information to analyze and enhance the Web site, and may aggregate this information and share such aggregated information with business partners, sponsors and other third parties.

E. Information We May Place Automatically On Your Computer's Hard Drive

When you view our Web site, we may store some information on your computer.  This information will be in the form of a "cookie" or similar file and will help us in many ways.  For example, cookies allow us to tailor the Web site to better match your interests and preferences.  With most Internet browsers, you can erase cookies from you computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored.  Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions.

F. Public Forums

Our Web site may make discussion areas, chat rooms, message boards, news groups and other public forums available to its users.  For instance, information such as resumes and job postings submitted to the MITX job bank is available to anyone on the Internet.  Please remember that any information that is disclosed to these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

G. Children

The Web site is not directed at individuals under thirteen years of age, and MITX does not intend to collect any personally-identifiable information from such individuals.

H. Other Disclosures

MITX reserves the right to disclose any information collected from you to third parties when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) MITX's rights or property, other members or users of the Web site, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.

We also reserve the right to disclose any information collected from you to third parties when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.

MITX may transfer any information collected from you to successors of our assets.

I. Links to Other Web sites

Our Web site provides links to various other Web sites.  MITX assumes no responsibility for the information practices of sites you are able to access through the MITX Web site.  These links to other sites do not imply affiliation or endorsement of a linked site.

J. Security

The importance of security for all personally-identifiable information associated with our users and members is of utmost concern to us. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personally-identifiable information, MITX can't ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our Web site.  Once we receive your personally-identifiable information, we will take reasonable efforts to ensure its security on our systems.

K. Acceptance

By using the Web site, you signify your assent to this privacy notice. If you do not agree to this privacy notice, please do not use the Web site. Your continued use of the Web site following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those changes.

L. How You Can Correct Your Information

You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request to info@mitx.org that credibly shows error. 

To protect your privacy and security, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before making corrections.
